lip-syncing

we have done a practise video of lip syncing where we have done one video of one performance of george singing. we just did it in the media room, and the main idea was to get used to the lip syncing and singing the lyrics. obviously in the real thing will be completely diffrent.

We did a editing version of our practise lip synicing, where we mixed up a few more shot angles with our original one. it is more like what our final cut will be like with more shots.

Costumes (photos)

We have decided to take some pictures of what our costumes will look like, shown above. We tried to create an indie/ oasis style, by wearing cardigans, jeans, plain tees, and parkas. we also varied our costumes so we could see what looks best.

animatic

We have managed to get together a series of animated shots which resemble ideas of some of our shots for our music video.

Storyboard

We are currently working on our storyboard. We have made a good start to our storyboard and we have come up with a few more ideas. We have found a lot of different angles and camera positions to shoot from. We have also found girl who is willing to perform in the video. We are also going to have a few seconds pause before we start the music and have a shot of teh band on the beach. We are also going to shoot the chorus just of the band we will shoot it the pier at Felixstowe.

Pitch

Our whole video will be in a black and white effect or a dull lightning. We will look to go somwhere like Old Hunstanton, felixstowe etc to find a rural area to represent the miserable atmosphere shown in the lyrics. There are 4 members to the band who will all feature in the video; the singer, 2 base players, and a drummer. we may also have a girl in it if we decide to have a storyline aswell. All the band members will have parkas and jeans on resembling Oasis. We would all have to re-style our hair to make it scruffy. if we have the girl, we would have her in a mens t-shirt and little hotpants and high-heels. we would also have her with running mke-up to show her sadness. Our aims our to film numers of the performnces in locations with different camera shots and movments. Wen the singer is performing we will have him singing into the camera, but wen we are kind of following a story-line we will have the singer singin to himself and the girl. Will most likely to have the performances for the chorus, and then the story for the verses. We will most probably start with a long-shot at end with a long shot. in the fast parts of the song we wil have quick transitions between clips and short clips within themselves. We will make use of all of the different shots, angles and possibly some of the movements.

Initial Ideas!!

Song: The Maple State- Arguments

Lyrics: Arguments are always so much better with the strength of hindsight,
Like what i should have said, just what i should have said,
In the quiet of my room i can attack each pointless phrase just right,
But its never what i said
Well, i blame you for everything thats wrong with this town
Or i should blame him, for every stupid choice youve made

But your hair alone
And my way with words
Will have you out those clothes and staying with me tonight

But ive seen it all
And he's (such a liar?)
And seen you broken and defeated

Arguments are always so much better with the strength of hindsight,
Like what i should have said, just what i should have said,
In the quiet of my room i can attack each pointless phrase just right,
But its never what i said
Well, i blame you for everything thats wrong with this town
Or i should blame him, for every time he fucked you up and let you down

But your hair alone
And my way with words
Will have you out those clothes and staying with me tonight

But ive seen it all
And he's (such a liar?)
And seen you broken and defeated

See, I take it all back take it all back
Baby you know how I love my life
See, I take it all back take it all back
Baby you know how I love my life
See, I take it all back take it all back
Baby you know how I love my life
See, I take it all back take it all back
Baby you know how I love my life

But your hair alone
And my way with words
Will have you out those clothes and staying with me tonight

But ive seen it all
And he's (such a liar?)
And seen you broken and defeated

^^^The lyrics above are about a man who is kind of having a go at his girlfriend for sleeping with another guy but it is clear that he still likes and perhaps wants her. We will hope to show this in out music video. We will show this by the setting we choose, the casts costumes and make-up etc.

Setting: Set in a scrubby part of the coast; perhaps Old Hunstanton, Lowerstoft, Felixstowe...and making use of the sea front, arcades, kiokes etc.

Hopefully get there on a dull, cloudy, and overcast day to represent a miserable day to match the lyrics.

In the editing stage we could adjust the lighting of the footage to create a dull, grey and miserable look to represent the meaning behind the song.

Cast: band of 4 boys (singer, 2 base players, and a drummer), singers girlfriend, local people (tourists)

Costumes: band members in parkas and jeans (Oasis Liam Gallagher look), girl all dressed up in last nights clothes (scruffy)

Make-up: girl has running make-up (mascara) to show the sad emotions etc. Band members have scruffy hair.

Influences: We have looked at some artists videos that are within the same genre as our song to get techniques used in that type of music, but also other genres to get genral ideas and techniques.

An example of one of the videos that is in the same genre as our song is The Killers song Read My Mind;

Anothrt example of one of the videos from the same genre as our song is the Arctic Monkeys song A View From The Afternoon;

We also looked at other genre music videos just to get an idea and basic techniques of music videos. We thought that Kanye Wests single All falls down resembles a similae background story to our song;
